Objectives :

  • To develop a platform to share community interventions on tobacco and alcohol control
  • To collate and disseminate information related to industry interference on community actions to control tobacco and alcohol



  1. Community Mobilization on tobacco and alcohol control
  2. Industry interference on community interventions to control tobacco and alcohol
  3. Innovative approaches to control tobacco and alcohol
  4. Interventions to motivate to quit or reduce consumption
  5. Interventions to improve family wellbeing and Happiness via controlling tobacco and alcohol – poverty reduction & economic development, empowerment of women , Reduction of domestic violence, better environment for the children, improvement of family happiness
  6. Interventions to reduce availability of alcohol and tobacco

All abstracts must be submitted via email.

  • Call for Abstracts: 1st August 2017
  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 25th August 2017
  • Notification for Acceptance: 10th September 2017

Title Name of the intervention
Background Goals and objectives of your project and describe what your work tried to achieve
Implementation Describe the setting/location, target population  and the intervention
Challenges Challenges you faced and how you addressed them
Results Present the Impact of the community of this intervention and lesson learned
Follow-up Outline the major tasks that will be undertaken to further the work or dissemination of your project

  • All abstracts must be submitted via email.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to all authors


Text of the abstract

  • The abstract text should not exceed 350 words.
  • Font size:12, Font type : Sinhala – FMAbhaya, Tamil- Bhamini
  • Titles of more than 25 words
  • Abstracts can be submitted any language. (Sinhala, Tamil or English)
  • All accepted abstracts will be included in the Abstract Book


Notifications to authors

  • Corresponding authors will be notified of acceptance of their abstracts by the end of August 2017.


A certificate will be awarded to all the participants
